Pruning is the most common tree care practice that
we provide. It is a process that should be completed without the use of spurs to
prevent damage to the trees. Pruning may be needed to:
- Remove dead, diseased or hazardous limbs
- Remove branches that interfere with
buildings, utility wires, or pedestrian and vehicular traffic
- Remove branches that are rubbing against
each other
- Improve tree structure to reduce the
likelihood of storm damage
- Thin the foliage to increase light
penetration to lawns, shrubs, or flowers
- Training young trees to a strong structure
- Improve the shape of the tree
Tree and Stump Removal: Trees that are
dead, badly diseased or seriously damaged may need to be completely removed.
Sometimes, trees must be removed to accommodate new construction or additions to
existing homes. Whatever the reason, our crews are equipped with crane and lift
truck to safely remove these trees while protecting your property and, we have
stump machines to grind the stumps out below ground level. For trees that are
not accessible to heavy equipment, our trained climbers use strong ropes and
specialized load handling tools and techniques to safely remove large limbs and
trunks.
Fertilization and Vertical Mulching: All
too often, tree roots are growing in cramped spaces because of foundations,
driveways and sidewalks. Soils around homes are stripped of fertile topsoil
during construction and the remaining soil may be badly compacted by compaction.
In addition, cultural practices such as raking leaves and gathering grass
clippings interrupt the natural nutrient recycling that exists in the forest.
This results in a slow downward spiral of tree health and vitality that may
result in the trees' demise.
Fertilization may be made with soluble, dry, or systemic nutrients depending on
the situation. This increases the trees' vigor and helps them to resist disease
and insect attack as well as unfavorable weather conditions. Vertical mulching
is a technique that incorporates compost into the top 12 to 15 inches of soil
which substantially increase air and water penetration into the root zone. In
our opinion, it is one of the best treatments for tree preservation especially
around new construction.
Cabling and Bracing: We install cables and treaded rods or use synthetic
ropes to reinforce weak multi-stemmed trees. These installations should be
inspected regularly to ensure their integrity and to be adjusted if necessary.
Lightning Protection: Lightning can cause the most spectacular damage to
trees. Lightning damage can be prevented with the installation of copper
lightning systems. These systems are especially important for high-value feature
trees and for trees in highly used public areas such as golf courses and parks.
Emergency Tree Care: Our crews are on call 24-hours a day during violent
storms. We will use our heavy equipment to clear fallen trees from buildings and
driveways or perform temporary pruning and install temporary supports on trees
that can be saved. Often, we must just do a "make safe" job and return after the
storm to complete the work and clean up the debris. |
